The original Tiger Stripe pattern was initially developed and used during the Vietnam War by the United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) and its Special Operations Group (SOG). The pattern was designed to provide effective camouflage in the dense, jungle-rich terrain of Southeast Asia, where traditional woodland camo proved inadequate.

Created by South Vietnamese artists and influenced by the French lizard pattern, the Tiger Stripe featured irregular shapes and broad stripes in shades of green, brown, and black, arranged to break up the silhouette and blend into the lush environment. The pattern's effectiveness in concealing troops during covert operations and ambushes quickly gained popularity among the U.S. forces.

Over time, the Tiger Stripe pattern has evolved and adapted for use in various environments, including arid and desert regions, as it offers concealment in sandy and rocky landscapes. During Operation Enduring Freedom, American private security contractors and CIA paramilitary officers in Afghanistan adopted this version of the tiger stripe uniform, composed of desert tan and beige, to suit their mission needs. This Special Edition Arid Tiger Stripe magazine pays homage to this historical camouflage, providing both a nod to its roots and a modern twist for firearms enthusiasts seeking an eye-catching and effective design for their weapons.
